Scottish and German Firms Partner on Low-Carbon Subsea Solutions 🌊🔋

Scottish wave energy company Mocean Energy and German subsea technology firm SubCtech have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop customizable ocean power and monitoring solutions. The collaboration will combine Mocean Energy's Blue X wave energy converter with SubCtech’s subsea equipment, including advanced batteries and monitoring systems, to deliver low-carbon solutions for various subsea technologies.

The partnership aims to utilize wave and solar energy, along with battery storage, to provide sustainable energy solutions for offshore activities. Mocean Energy's Blue X converter, already proven in the Renewables for Subsea Power (RSP) program, will be integrated with SubCtech’s subsea battery technologies. This initiative reflects a growing industry trend towards innovative, low-carbon technologies for the blue economy.

Mocean Energy, based in Scotland, and SubCtech, located in Germany, will share engineering expertise and support to develop these solutions for a global market. SubCtech, founded in 2010, is known for its Li-ion batteries for underwater vehicles and offshore applications, offering scalable Energy Storage Systems (ESS) with capacities ranging from 1 MWh to 6 MWh.
