🌍🔋 Yara Opens New Ammonia Import Terminal in Germany to Boost Hydrogen Economy 🚢

Yara International has officially launched its new ammonia import terminal in Brunsbüttel, Germany, on October 2, 2024. This facility enables the import of up to three million tonnes of low-emission ammonia annually, supporting Europe’s hydrogen goals by providing about 530,000 tonnes of hydrogen—approximately 5% of the target for 2030.

The terminal will play a crucial role in decarbonizing various industries, including shipping and fertilizers, by utilizing low-emission ammonia produced through renewable energy or carbon capture and storage (CCS). With Germany projected to import up to 70% of its ammonia needs by 2030, this strategically located terminal is poised to facilitate the country’s transition to a low-carbon future. Yara’s renewable hydrogen pilot plant in Norway, the largest in Europe, further emphasizes the company's commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
