MAN Energy Solutions Opens Europe’s Most Advanced Electrolyzer Gigafactory in Hamburg
Quest One, a subsidiary of MAN Energy Solutions, has inaugurated a state-of-the-art gigafactory for the automated production of PEM electrolysis stacks, crucial for green hydrogen production. The facility, located in Hamburg, aims to produce over 5 gigawatts of electrolysis capacity annually and reduce production time by 75%, enabling stacks to be manufactured in under an hour.
The grand opening event was attended by more than 800 guests, including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and local officials, underscoring the facility's significance in advancing the hydrogen economy. The gigahub will employ around 200 people and serve as a center for customer engagement and training.
Supported by Germany’s H2Giga initiative, the project reflects a strong commitment to sustainability and positions Hamburg as a leading hydrogen hub in Europe. Quest One aims to play a pivotal role in the energy transition and has set a goal to help reduce global greenhouse emissions by 1% by 2050.
