Scottish wave energy company Mocean Energy has partnered with Aberdeen-based controls specialist Proserv to fast-track decarbonization in underwater operations. The two firms signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop renewable-powered solutions that replace traditional umbilical power cables. Their innovative system will combine wave, solar, and battery technologies, providing offshore operators with greener and more cost-effective power alternatives.

Mocean’s Blue X wave energy converter, validated through the Renewables for Subsea Power program, will play a pivotal role, alongside their soon-to-be-deployed commercial product, Blue Star, aimed at decarbonizing oil and gas production.

In addition, Mocean Energy is working with German marine tech company SubCtech to develop further low-carbon solutions, advancing customizable ocean power systems for subsea control operations.
