🚧🌱 Construction Approved for 9 Million cbm Biogas Plant in Germany 🌍💡

The construction and operation of a biogas plant in Wiesbaden, Germany, have been provisionally approved, with a final decision expected by the Wiesbaden City Council at the end of September 2024. The €35 million ($38.7 million) project will process 60,000 metric tons of organic waste annually, producing approximately 8.9 million cubic meters of biogas. This biogas will be upgraded to around 5 million cubic meters of biomethane per year, sufficient to supply over 10,000 households.

The plant is a joint venture between the Rheingau-Taunus district and the state capital Wiesbaden, operating through the newly established company, in which both entities hold a 50% share. The facility will be located at the Dyckerhoffbruch landfill site, overseen by ELW’s Operations Manager Markus Patsch.
