Moment Energy, a Canadian EV battery repurposing company, is set to establish the first UL1974 certified manufacturing facility in Texas, supported by a $20.3 million grant from the Biden-Harris Administration. This gigafactory aims to produce 1 GWh of annual capacity at full operation, with design and development plans starting in Q1 2025. CEO Edward Chiang stated that the facility aligns with their mission to provide clean, affordable power and aims to repurpose all retired EV batteries by 2030. The project will also create over 50 manufacturing jobs and 200 permanent positions, contributing to the local economy and addressing energy supply chain vulnerabilities.
