🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia to Launch 6 GW CCGT+CCS Tender in 2025 🌍
Saudi Arabia's Energy Minister has announced a 2025 tender for 6 GW of combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plants with carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology. This project is part of a larger plan to reach 42 GW of CCS-ready CCGT capacity by 2030, helping the Kingdom upgrade existing power facilities and add high-efficiency, eco-friendly power sources. So far, 21 GW have been tendered, with 9 GW under construction and 5.6 GW already connected to the grid. The Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) will manage these developments through the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model, encouraging private sector participation in Saudi Arabia’s drive toward a greener future. 🌱
