The £1 billion redevelopment of Shotton Mill in Flintshire, led by Turkish firm Eren Holding, represents a significant boost to UK recycling infrastructure. Originally a paper mill for newsprint, Shotton Mill is being transformed into a major cardboard and tissue production plant with high-tech capabilities, aiming to elevate the UK’s recycling levels substantially. The project, employing up to 2,000 contractors during its construction phase, is expected to start operations next year.
