🚗⚡ Next BMW M3 to Offer Both Combustion and Electric Power Options by 2028 🌍🔋
BMW is gearing up to launch the seventh-generation M3 in early 2028, offering buyers a choice between the iconic straight-six turbocharged petrol engine and a cutting-edge all-electric powertrain. This dual powertrain approach aligns with BMW’s commitment to maintaining combustion options while embracing electrification.
The combustion variant will retain the S58 twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter engine, modified to meet stricter emissions regulations, ensuring its continued availability. Meanwhile, the electric M3 will debut on BMW's Neue Klasse platform, featuring innovative quad-motor technology for precise torque vectoring, aiming to deliver the agility and performance synonymous with M models.
BMW M CEO Frank van Meel highlighted the challenge of heavier EVs due to large batteries but emphasized the division’s efforts to counteract the weight through advanced power management and dynamic control systems, dubbed the "Heart of Joy." The electric M3 is set to rival models like the Porsche Taycan and Mercedes-AMG C63, marking a significant step in BMW’s transition to high-performance EVs.
