🚀 Texas-Based SLB Unveils Neuro: AI-Powered System for Smarter, Greener Drilling

SLB has launched Neuro, an AI-driven autonomous geosteering system designed to revolutionize well drilling by improving efficiency and reducing carbon emissions. Building on SLB’s Neuro autonomous directional drilling platform, this cutting-edge system uses advanced cloud and edge AI to adapt to complex subsurface conditions, ensuring precise well placement in the most productive reservoir layers.


Neuro's debut included drilling a 2,392-foot lateral section of an onshore well for Shaya Ecuador S.A., achieving 25 autonomous trajectory adjustments in seconds. The result? One of Ecuador’s highest-producing wells with minimized environmental impact.


“Neuro is for drillers what the autonomous vehicle is for drivers,” said Jesus Lamas, SLB’s Well Construction president, highlighting the system’s ability to enhance field development plans while cutting lifetime drilling emissions.
